Gift Card Checks For Staff

You may want to let some people in your company (your staff) check gift card information without giving them access to your Joomla! back end.

To do this, create Joomla! user accounts for your staff members and add these users to the user group that you selected for the Staff's User Group option in CM Gift Card’s configuration.

There are 2 menu item types that staff can use to manage gift cards: Check Gift Cards and Staff Area.

The Check Gift Cards menu item type is where staff can see the list of all the gift cards on the site. If you open the menu item for Check Gift Cards as a regular user (one who is not in the staff group), you get an error:

Staff can search for gift cards by gift card code, customer name and address, gift card type, order status, and delivery status.

To view the details of a gift card, you need to create a menu item of the Check Gift Card Detail (hidden menu item) type.

Click on a gift card code to view the gift card’s details.

The Staff Area menu item type was introduced in CM Gift Card 2.2.0. This page provides a QR code scanner that helps staff find a gift card and set its redemption status more quickly.

When you open the QR code scanner, your web browser asks for permission to use your device’s camera. You need to grant this permission.

After you scan a gift card code, a modal appears with the gift card’s information, where you can set the redemption status by clicking the Redeem and Cancel Redemption buttons.
